At Rakuten Mobile, we are committed to providing our customers with a comfortable, reliable mobile experience. To that end, we continuously work to improve network quality and implement a range of measures to strengthen coverage. Here’s an overview of our ongoing network improvement initiatives designed to keep you connected every day.

◆ Expanding coverage nationwide—so you can stay connected in everyday life.

To deliver a high-quality, stable communication environment, Rakuten Mobile is rapidly accelerating the rollout and expansion of its own base stations across Japan. We are currently driving the “Rakuten SAIKYO Plan” project, which focuses on expanding our service area.

On our dedicated page (*1), you can check the latest updates on newly built and expanded base stations. We also recommend using it together with the service area map (*2).

◆Measures for events and disaster response

Rakuten Mobile deploys mobile base station vehicles to major events held across Japan—such as fireworks festivals and music festivals—where large crowds gather, in order to strengthen network capacity and coverage.

In the event that base stations are damaged or power outages occur due to disasters, we dispatch mobile base station vehicles, portable base stations, mobile power supply vehicles, and portable generators to help secure communication methods—such as mobile calls and email—in affected areas.

In response to requests from local governments and other organizations, we also provide loans of satellite phones, smartphones, Wi‑Fi routers, multi-chargers, and more to evacuation sites and disaster recovery-related institutions.

◆The “Connectable” Outdoor Map Project

We introduce outdoor destinations across Japan—such as hidden hot springs and campgrounds—where Rakuten Mobile service is available. Look for the “Connecting Stickers” posted at the location as a sign.

Try checking connected spots on social media using the hashtag #楽天モバイルステッカー見つけた. And if you find a sticker yourself, please post about it with #楽天モバイルステッカー見つけた!

Summary

Rakuten Mobile continues to expand coverage by building and expanding base stations to make everyday connectivity more comfortable. At the same time, we have strengthened measures to handle congestion at large-scale events, and we maintain recovery and support systems for when disasters occur. We’re also promoting initiatives such as our outdoor map to improve connectivity everywhere—from daily life to leisure activities. We invite you to take this opportunity to consider joining Rakuten Mobile.
