“The direct debit failed due to insufficient funds”
“I accidentally missed the payment deadline”
“If the bill is unpaid, when will my line be suspended?”

Even if your Rakuten Mobile direct debit fails, there is no need to panic. By following the proper steps, you can complete your payment instantly online from your smartphone.

This article clearly explains how to check your unpaid charges, choose the right payment method for you, and understand the risks of ignoring unpaid bills and the process to restore your service.

1. Steps to Check Unpaid Charges (via Rakuten Link App)

You can check your current unpaid status and amount at any time, 24 hours a day, through the “Rakuten Link” app you normally use.

Steps to Check

  1. Launch the “Rakuten Link” app.
  2. Tap the “my Rakuten Mobile” icon (or My Page) in the app.
  3. Select “Usage Report & Payment” from the home screen or menu.
  4. If there are unpaid charges, a notice such as “You have unpaid charges” along with the unpaid amount will be displayed on the screen.

2. 3 Payment Methods Available for Unpaid Charges

Rakuten Mobile offers multiple payment options depending on your situation.

① Web/App Payment (Credit, Debit, Rakuten Points)

This is the fastest and most recommended method with no fees.

  • Accepted methods: Credit card, debit card, Rakuten Points (full or partial amount)
  • Steps: From the “Pay Unpaid Charges” screen in “my Rakuten Mobile”, select your preferred payment method and complete the payment instantly.

② Convenience Store Payment (Screen Barcode / Paper Invoice)

Pay at a convenience store using a barcode displayed on your smartphone screen or a paper invoice (payment slip) delivered to your home.

  • Smartphone screen barcode: Select “Pay at convenience store” in “my Rakuten Mobile”, then present the issued barcode at the register to pay.
  • Paper invoice (postcard): If the direct debit could not be confirmed, an invoice will be sent to your registered address at a later date. Bring it to a convenience store register and pay in cash.
  • Smartphone payment apps: You can also use code payment services such as PayPay or au PAY to scan the barcode on the invoice and make a payment.

⚠️ Note
If you use convenience store payment or a paper invoice, an invoice issuance fee or payment processing fee (approximately several hundred yen) may be added separately.

3. Risks and Schedule If Unpaid Charges Are Left Unresolved

If unpaid charges are left unresolved, restrictions will be applied in stages, ultimately resulting in forced contract cancellation.

① Service Suspension (Data and Calls Become Unavailable)

  • Estimated timing: If payment is not confirmed for a certain period (approximately 2 weeks to 1 month) after the original direct debit date.
  • Status: Data communication and phone calls (both incoming and outgoing) will be suspended. The calling app “Rakuten Link” will also become unavailable.

② Late Interest and Collection Fees

  • Late interest may be incurred depending on the number of days past the payment due date.

③ Forced Contract Cancellation & Impact on Credit History

  • Forced cancellation: If the unpaid state continues after service suspension, your contract will be forcibly cancelled (line contract terminated).
  • Credit record: If your contract includes installment payments (loans) for a device, the unpaid information will be registered with credit bureaus, which may make it difficult to obtain a credit card or take out loans in the future.
